Evergreen Logistics
Video surveillance for Evergreen container terminal in Laem Chabang Port, Chonburi, Thailand.
For one of the two logistics parks owned and operated by Evergreen in Thailand, the decision was taken in 2012 to upgrade its CCTV system at Laem Chabang and migrate the system to an IP platform. Point IT Consulting, who had an existing relationship with the company for other IT-related systems, was approached to propose a design-and-build offering. The system is used to monitor container freight uploads and downloads via cranes at the dockside, from ship to dockside movers. Further monitoring is also required during storage and when the container is being loaded to and from road transportation. During its transition through the facility, the system also allows users to inspect the containers for structural condition and appearance. The system also provides site perimeter security, number-plate recognition at the main gate, plus a tool for health and safety investigations and traffic management. The video is stored locally and can then be used for evidence presentation after a security breach or traffic accident. Alternatively, the video can be used as a teaching aid for site accident prevention. The second facility at Songkhla will receive a similar system targeted for deployment in 2015.
